Rocket dog was the idea of two footwear gurus with combined experience in the footwear industry of 40 plus years! The name Rocket dog came from a real life -Rocket dog- who was owned by one of the original Rocketdog footwear gurus. They were involved with footwear companies such as Sam and Libby and Espirit. The first attempt at Rocket dog shoes was a sandal with a cork bottom and juke upper which was produced in Southern Cali in 1997. The Rocket Dog Sandal was a huge success debuting in San Fran. LA and South Beach. After this success Rocket Dog was officially launched.
Street and Surf womens shoes were reinvented by Rocket Dog with the use of E.V.A, a compound used in Rocket dog footwear. The first Rocket Dog shoes were named “Horny Corner” after a popular surf hang out. These sandals/ rocket dog shoes were a must for all the young girls trying to to hip and trendy with footwear.
Rocket Dog was able to advertise its shoes to the masses in 1999 when Rocket dog joined forces with New York Transit a footwear/shoe distributor. This joining allowed Rocket Dog to expose their footwear worldwide and place its shoes firmly on a very competitive global footwear market.
